(Republican Insider) – A lawyer who represents the family of murdered Jan. 6 protester Ashli Babbitt has come out swinging for the fences against the Capitol Police this week after they officially cleared the officer (pictured here) who killed Babbitt of any wrongdoing in the incident.
According to BizPacReview, the department has concluded that the shooting of Babbitt, a 35-year old military veteran who was attempting to climb through the broken window of a door that would take her into an anteroom located close by the House Chamber, was a justified shooting because the officer involved acted within protocols and policy, and as a result has avoided being subjected to disciplinary measures or criminal charges.
“In making the announcement, Capitol Police officials said investigators had conducted a months-long probe and had talked with several witnesses, while also reviewing video feeds and radio calls,” the report said.
“USCP’s Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR) determined the officer’s conduct was lawful and within Department policy, which says an officer may use deadly force only when the officer reasonably believes that action is in the defense of human life, including the officer’s own life, or in the defense of any person in immediate danger of serious physical injury,” the department went on to say in a press release, according to a report from CBS News.
The officer who shot Babbitt has not been “officially” identified, however, which is very strange considering the fact that if a white police officer shot a black person, the name would be released within hours of the incident.
In fact, a recent shooting that took place in Minnesota saw the identity of Brooklyn Center, Minn. Police Officer Kim Potter identified almost immediately. And she is now facing charges of second-degree manslaughter. And yet, the officer who shot Babbitt gets off the hook.
No doubt this is because he shot a Trump supporter.
Conservative commentator Dinesh D’Souza had a lot to say on this whole situation.
“Imagine a left-wing Capitol protest with an unarmed black woman named #AshliBabbitt shot to death by a white police officer who was not threatened with any imminent harm. Now ask yourself what the reaction would be. Then ask if the real Ashli received equal justice under the law,” he wrote in a post on GETTR.
“Capitol Police officials said the officer’s name is not being released out of concern for his safety. But the department said that he ‘potentially saved Members [of Congress] and staff from serious injury and possible death from a large crowd of rioters who forced their way into the U.S. Capitol and to the House Chamber where Members and staff were steps away,” the report continued.

“Terry Roberts, who is representing Babbitt’s family, responded with a statement Monday as well, lashing out at the Capitol Police for the department’s conclusions and demanding that officials release all of their findings along with the name of the officer — said to be a lieutenant — who shot and killed Babbitt,” the report added.
“The press release issued today by the Capitol Police in no way demonstrates that the shooting of Ashli Babbitt was lawful and in compliance with Department Policy,” Roberts stated while then mocking the finding that the officer “potentially saved” the lives of members of Congress.
The lawyer scoffed at the idea that the officer “potentially saved” Congress members and staff through the actions he took.
“Potentially? One cannot be shot for being potentially a threat,” Roberts went on to say. “One has to be an imminent threat – a real and immediate threat.”
Roberts then noted once again that Babbitt was not in possession of a weapon and that there were no members of Congress anywhere nearby during the time she was shot.

“Killing her by shooting her at point-blank range was completely unnecessary,” Roberts proclaimed. “This alone renders the shooting legally unjustified.”
“It is not enough to say that an officer did nothing wrong without showing how it reached such a conclusion. An investigation by the officer’s own police department conducted in secret proves nothing, and certainly is not an ‘exoneration,’” the attorney said.
As the Gateway Pundit points out, Babbitt wasn’t the only woman who died on January 6th due to the actions taken by the Capitol Police. Rosanne Boyland was killed by the police while protesting outside the Capitol building.
Along with that, we were told that Congress was evacuated due to the violence that erupted from Trump supporters, but as it turns out, that’s just more lies. We now know that Congress was evacuated that day due to a pipe bomb threat. It was not at all due to Trump supporters walking through the halls.

Babbitt’s shooting was not justified. It was an ambush. And now, this officer is going to get away with murder. Why? Because Babbitt was a supporter of President Trump’s. Only certain lives matter to the left, and those lives are the ones that help them to achieve political goals.
