Meet The Trump-Appointed Prosecutor Who Will Decide Whether To Indict Biden

(Republican Insider) – US Attorney for the District of Delaware, David Weiss, who was appointed by President Trump in 2018, is currently evaluating the evidence in the case against Hunter Biden.

Despite having been appointed by Trump and a Republican at the time of his confirmation, he’s also received the endorsements of both of the state’s Democratic senators, Tom Carper and Chris Coons, according to his government biography.

There’s no telling which way Weiss will lean on this matter given its politically charged nature.

CBS News spoke to several of Weiss’ former colleagues this week in an attempt to get a clearer idea of what we might expect from him. One “former close associate” who spoke under the condition of anonymity said, “David is a straight shooter” and described him as a “moderate Republican who is apolitical in his work.”

That sounds promising. After all, how can anyone who earnestly puts politics to the side fail to see all the criminal activity Hunter Biden and his father Joe Biden have engaged in over the years, thanks to Hunter’s laptop.

“He is not a Trumper nor is he close to Biden,” the source told CBS.

Former Assistant U.S. Attorney for Delaware Robert Kravetz said: “David is a diligent professional prosecutor. He’s a leader who cares about the people who work for him.”

“He provides quiet, steady leadership,” Kravetz added. “He surely doesn’t seek the limelight.”

Other former colleagues told CBS that Weiss’ oversight “would be neither overly aggressive nor overly protective in handling the investigation.”

CBS reported that Weiss is one of the few Trump-appointed US attorneys that Joe Biden has not replaced. That could very well be because Biden recognized the optics of replacing the prosecutor overseeing his son’s investigation would not be favorable.

Either that or Joe Biden recognizes Weiss as a fellow Washington swamp creature.

In July 2021, Politico reported that Weiss had “paused” the investigation into Hunter Biden months ahead of the 2020 presidential election.

“The probe had reached a point where prosecutors could have sought search warrants and issued a flurry of grand jury subpoenas,” according to the report. “Some officials involved in the case wanted to do just that. Others urged caution. They advised Delaware’s U.S. Attorney, David Weiss, to avoid taking any actions that could alert the public to the existence of the case in the middle of a presidential election.”

One source, described as “a person involved in the discussions,” told Politico, “To his credit, he listened.” According to this person, Weiss, who did not want to see his office’s investigation be turned into a political circus in the months leading up to the election, put the case on hold.

Maybe his decision, in the summer of 2020, was initially sound, however, since then a plethora of new information has come to light which should have prompted Weiss to take action. Instead, he has been silent.

Even in light of the laptop revelations and Hunter Biden’s former associate Tony Bobulinski’s testimony of Joe Biden’s knowledge into his son’s business deals, Weiss did not take action.

Effectively, Weiss allowed for the establishment media to continue their “Russian disinformation” narrative in their efforts to downplay and discredit the damning evidence against Joe and Hunter Biden.

We will soon find out if Weiss is a “Republican” like Mitt Romney’s a “Republican” or if he’s truly “apolitical” in his work.

It’s certainly time for some justice.
