MUST-SEE: NBA Team Hijacks Moment Of Silence… Tells Audience To Demand Gun Control

(Republican Insider) – The radical left has wasted no time at all politicizing the recent tragedy that unfolded in Uvalde, Texas after an 18-year-old went into an elementary school and shot up a bunch of people, killing 19 children and two adult teachers.

In fact, before the first real details of what happened in the situation emerged, they were making calls for the passage of gun control laws to strip away our Second Amendment right to own a firearm in order to protect ourselves, our families, and our property from thieves, criminals, and tyrannical government.

And the sickening virtue signaling started oozing out of the entertainment world, including professional sports, as the National Basketball Association team, the Miami Heat, took advantage of a moment of silence that was to be observed on Wednesday in honor of the victims and families impacted by the shooting in order to promote their anti-gun agenda.

“The Heat Organization, the Boston Celtics and the NBA family also mourn those who lost their lives in the senseless shooting that took place yesterday at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas,” the stadium announcer kicked things off ahead of an Eastern Conference Finals game to set to take place between the Heat and Boston Celtics at FTX Arena in Miami, Florida.

“Our thoughts are with the victims, their families and friends, and the entire Robb Elementary School and Uvalde community,” the announcer went on to say.

“Our hope is that the families, friends, co-workers and loved ones of all those impacted by this tragedy will find the comfort and strength they need as they carry on in honor of those whose lives were lost,” he stated before then going on to ask all those in attendance to observe a moment of silence in honor of those who died.

Then, after thanking folks for joining the NBA in the moment of silence, things got political.

According to a report from The Western Journal, the announcer provided the telephone number of the switchboard at the U.S. Capitol, going on to say, “The Heat urges you to contact your state’s senators by calling 202-224-3121 to leave a message demanding their support for common-sense gun laws.”

“You can also make change at the ballot box. Visit Heat.com/vote to register and let your voice be heard this fall,” he continued.

“The Dallas Mavericks also observed a moment of silence for the victims of the shooting in Uvalde before their Western Conference Finals game against the Golden State Warriors,” the report said.

“Warriors head coach Steve Kerr, who has spoken out in favor of gun control and against Republican politicians on many occasions, did so again on Tuesday night,” the report continued.

“When are we going to do something?” Kerr stated. “I’m tired — I’m so tired of getting up here and offering condolences to the devastated families that are out there. I’m so tired. Excuse me. I’m sorry. I’m tired of moments of silence. Enough.”

“There’s 50 senators right now who refuse to vote on HR 8, which is a background check rule that the House passed a couple years ago,” he added. “It’s been sitting there for two years. And there’s a reason they won’t vote on it: to hold on to power.”

The NBA is no stranger to mixing their professional sports with politics, especially during recent times. The league, along with a number of its players and teams, have been openly advocating for far left political causes for quite a while.

“One of the political statements the NBA encouraged in recent years was the dishonor of the national anthem through officially sanctioned Black Lives Matter protests,” the Western Journal reported.

The league also allowed its athletes to disrespect our National Anthem by taking a knee while it was played before games instead of doing the right thing and asking them to stand and show respect for their country.

“But when it comes to issues such as the deteriorating human rights situation in Chinese-ruled Hong Kong or the Chinese Communist Party’s mass internment and repression of Uyghurs, the league and many of its leaders have turned a blind eye to injustice in favor of appealing to the lucrative and large Chinese market,” the WJ report said.

“When then-Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey shared a now-deleted tweet in 2019 expressing support for Hong Kong demonstrators protesting against CCP repression in the city, the NBA issued a statement calling Morey’s comments ‘regrettable,’ Time reported,” the WJ stated.

“We have great respect for the history and culture of China and hope that sports and the NBA can be used as a unifying force to bridge cultural divides and bring people together,” the league went on to say.

“We are deeply disappointed about Morey’s inappropriate comment and he undoubtedly has hurt Chinese fans’ feelings severely,” the NBA stated in the Chinese version of its statement.

Tilman Fertitta, the owner of the Rockets, came forward and stated on Twitter that Morey “does NOT speak” for the team and that the NBA is “NOT a political organization.”

People used to be able to turn to sports as a means of escaping the troubles of the world. It was a place where folks of different belief systems could unite under one banner, that of their favorite sports team, forgetting all of the things that often separate them.

Not anymore.

The left has now hijacked sports too and managed to transform it into a weapon used to divide instead of bring healing.

  1. Adam Silver when asked by Enis Freedom if he was breaking any rules, he told him “no”, but didn’t tell him he told all the NBA teams to boycott Enis so that he wouldn’t embarrass them any more. They can be against America and say bad things about the Republicans, but saying nothing about CCP and all their tyrannical treatment of their citizenry. Hypocrites that they are. The NBA is a great example of the love of money. I have no issue with being a millionaire or billionaire, but not to say anything about China’s human rights issues speaks volumes about the NBA.

  2. The NBA! What a load of hypocrisy!
First, they’re a bunch of black racist and gang bangers! Money! Money!
I like to see them in a spelling bee but they can spew politics! That goes to their handlers too!
