(Republican Insider) – The latest polling has revealed there is a new top concern for American voters. Given which issue it is, and the fact that University of Georgia nursing student Laken Riley was murdered by an illegal alien, this should have President Joe Biden extremely worried about his chances for re-election in November. I am, of course, talking about the border crisis and the record number of illegals who have flooded into our country thanks to the “open border” stance Biden has taken ever since being sworn into office in January of 2021.
“According to a Gallup poll released Tuesday, immigration has now surpassed ‘government’ to become the issue that the highest percentage of Americans see as the country’s most important problem,” The Western Journal is reporting. This is understandable because the topic of immigration hits multiple areas, such as the economy, national security, and crime. All of these dramatically impact the lives of everyday people, especially those who live in border states.
“The latest results of a Feb. 1-20 survey show that 28 percent of respondents consider immigration as the top issue facing this nation, up significantly from 20 percent in January. This is slightly higher than the previous record high of 27 percent recorded in July 2019, according to Gallup,” the piece says. “The spike in concern about immigration comes amid record numbers of migrants arriving at the U.S.-Mexico border in recent months. It also follows high-profile congressional negotiations around an immigration reform bill, which ultimately failed to pass the Senate.”
The greatest increase in concern comes from Republicans with 57 percent stating that immigration was the most pressing issue to them, compared to 37 percent just over a month ago. Independents have gone up to 22 percent from 16 percent. And, in no surprise at all, concern about illegals pouring into the U.S. remained the lowest among Democrats at 10 percent.

The consolation with Democrats is that while they might not have said it’s the most important issue facing the country, many of them do consider it a critical threat. You have to start somewhere, right?
“In a separate question asked by Gallup, a record-high 55 percent of Americans viewed ‘large numbers of immigrants entering illegally’ as a critical threat to U.S. interests. This number reached 90 percent among Republicans and 54 percent for independents. Among Democrats considering illegal immigration as a critical threat, the number has gone up from 20 percent to 29 percent within the span of a year,” the WJ noted.
The article then stated, “A national survey released Monday by Monmouth University found that for the first time, a majority of Americans — 53 percent — favor constructing a wall along the entire U.S.-Mexico border, according to The Hill.”
A total of over 80 percent are now convinced that illegal immigration is a critical issue, as per data from the poll, which is a fairly large increase over the last ten years. In the GOP, close to 91 percent believe it’s a very serious issue while only 77 percent remarked so back in 2019.
“The poll found that 80 percent of Americans see illegal immigration as either a very serious or somewhat serious problem. Also, the poll found that 61 percent of respondents are now backing a requirement for asylum seekers to remain in Mexico during application processing, 10 points higher than in 2019,” the report added.
The poll also divulged that one out of every three Americans believes that illegal aliens are more likely to commit acts of violence such as rape and murder. This number stood at 21 percent in 2019 and 17 percent in 2015.
“Illegal immigration has taken center stage as a defining issue this presidential election year. Other Monmouth polling found this to be Biden’s weakest policy area, including among his fellow Democrats,” Patrick Murray, a polling director, commented in the Monmouth news release.
The leftists in the White House and mainstream media have attempted to paint anyone daring to believe that the laws created by our government should be enforced as racist and xenophobic.
Heaven forbid the American people believe they have the right to be protected and kept safe from harm, right? On this issue, Biden is incredibly out of touch with the average person and given how important it has become, the 2024 election might just come down to this topic.
