Don Jr. Drops Bombshell: Reveals Top Three Potential VP Picks For Dad’s Campaign

(Republican Insider) – The eldest son of former President Trump, Donald Trump Jr., revealed his thoughts about who he thinks should be the vice presidential running mate for his father in the 2024 general election. In an interview with the New York Post, Don Jr. stated that he wants someone who can take a proverbial punch and deliver hits back even harder.

“What I want in that role is I want a fighter,” he told the outlet. “I understand what they are going to throw at us.”

“In 2016 you needed someone to balance out [the ticket] — that’s where Mike Pence made sense, sort of the yin and yang, but [given] the vicious nature of the swamp and the insanity we see on a daily basis, you need someone who can take those hits,” he continued.

That’s one name you can for sure scratch off the list of possibilities. Pence and Trump had a pretty big falling out during the 2020 election and it doesn’t seem there’s any love lost between the pair still to this day.

“Asked to name names, Trump Jr. pointed to Republican Sen. J.D. Vance, conservative commentator Tucker Carlson, and former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy as examples of potentially good running mates for his dad,” BizPac Review noted.

“As for him and his fiancée, Kimberly Guilfoyle, they don’t plan to follow the path of his sister, Ivanka, who became a central West Wing figure alongside her husband, Jared Kushner, during their father’s first term in office. Though FYI, Trump Jr. admitted he’d ‘never rule anything out,'” the report continued.

He then said that if his dad should end up becoming the next president, he plans to take a “very active” role in the presidential transition, while Guilfoyle would be handling the fundraising.

“Mostly just to make sure we stop some of the D.C. swamp rats and the swamp creatures from getting in there and doing their thing,” he declared, referring to his desire to partake in the transition process.

During the interview, Trump Jr. mentioned that he would like to have former Trump-era Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe help him with the transition, along with former special assistant to then-President Trump, Cliff Sims.

“There are so many great people to choose from. Now, with the first four years of the administration, you have a good understanding of who would be great and loyal and implement the America First policies,” Trump Jr. remarked.

“Lastly, the younger Trump dismissed as a “joke” his father’s threat that he’ll one day indict current President Joe Biden just like Biden’s administration has indicted him,” the piece disclosed.

“He’s going to lead the country the way it’s supposed to be led,” Trump Jr. told the NY Post. “His retribution will be success for our country.”

The comments from Trump Jr. come as a report was released last Friday by CNN stating that Trump’s “vice presidential shortlist is very long — and in flux.”

“The report from CNN notes that Trump senior has in recent days and weeks mentioned the likes of Sen. Vance, Sen. Marco Rubio, Sen. Tim Scott, Rep. Elise Stefanik, former Trump Cabinet official Ben Carson, South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, and even former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley as potential running mates,” BPR divulged.

“The presumptive GOP nominee is floating them all as he weighs who the next potential vice president will be,” CNN’s article reported. “Trump routinely asks allies, donors and Mar-a-Lago members for their take. Sources said his interest in potential candidates is frequently changing and is often based on recent conversations with various allies.”

So it seems there’s probably not going to be an announcement anytime soon, but that could change at the drop of a hat. There are a lot of good names on his list and just about any one of them would compliment the former president and his agenda.
